Went to see Public Image Limited last night with my brother at the House Of Blues.
You know what:Imma do this point by point.
Point 1:I love the House Of Blues.It’s not a HUGE venue, and this time I did not feel like I had to be right in the front(like I did when I saw Travis there.. Also, it was PACKED.As I said to several people, it’s you and almost a thousand of your new best friends. Also, almost $20 for a beer? Granted, it was a HUGE beer but still.And a shirt was $40(and yes,I did get one.)
Point 2:We had to walk a ways from where we parked to where House Of Blues was.To say that the walk was “sketchy” would be putting it mildly.But it all worked out in the end.
Point 3:They put a 21 and over bracelet on you(means you *probably* do not show ID-did NOT get a beer so can’t speak to that. I think we were some of the youngest people there(our older brother who is almost a decade older than *me* ,was a Sex Pistols fan. And he’s 60-something.)
Point 4: It had been 10 years since my last concert(Duran Duran at Coors Ampitheater-and yes I know it’s not called Coors anymore-these venues change names ALL.THE.TIME.) and after last night I high key want to start going to concerts again-but I never really know who is touring-I got that info from the Reader(local free paper)but The Reader is only online and I have no idea if they have any information about who’s in town.)
Point 5:The opening band were called Plague Vendor and they were really good.A lot of different influences coming together(I was getting X, Jane’s Addiction and a few others.
Point 6: For someone who is 70 years old,John Lydon is NOT a shy, retiring type.Loved how he(and Plague Vendor) kept shouting out San Diego.Well, we are America’s Finest City.They played almost all of the songs that I wanted to hear apart from one so I went home happy.But oh my god..John was recovering from pneumonia and he spit on the stage(and took a cigarette break right before the encore. Probably not the best thing..)
