*A Brazilian bishop says that the Traditional Latin Mass adherents are in schism.Well, he’s not wrong. And they will insert their opinion where it’s not wanted-as in a Facebook post where someone was talking about the Sign Of Peace(if you’re Catholic you know). This is something that started after Vatican II.It’s something I’m familiar with(though since the pandemic I do not shake hands with people.)

It’s “controversial”. Yeah..if you’re a Traditional Catholic. Someone said that that is why they like Traditional Catholic Mass. There was the obligatory comment about “why can’t we go back to the way it was before Vatican II?” Because the Church was making an effort to modernise in the early 60’s.We get the occasional blip as when Benedict the 16th was Pope.

*A church was giving glitter ashes for Ash Wednesday.A way to support the LGBTQ community which is great.The Catholic Church would never. I’m glad to see a church doing that.

However there are conservative Catholics who see this and calls it an abomination.Of course they do.But really,is this because it’s a NOT Catholic Church or that they are supporting the LGBTQ.I’d say that it’s quite a bit of both.

Is there literally anything more contentious as the Catholic Church?Part of me wishes that Vatican II never happened.That is only sort of true.We’d still be doing the Latin Mass and nothing else.

The Church would have lost a LOT of people if Vatican II had never happened.

What I find interesting is that a vast majority of Catholic converts tend to be more in favour of the Latin Mass.That is not to shit on converts;it is something that I have noticed.Also,they tend to be from places without a lot of Catholics.Oklahoma(where I have family) qualifies for this. Novus Ordo parishes in other parts of the Bible Belt have been taken over by Latin Mass ones.North Carolina is but one.

Maybe I’m resentful;as someone who is a Cradle Catholic(Sunday school,the whole deal.)

Again:I say this not to shit on converts-not in the least-but living somewhere where you are in a minority -in the religious sense-means that you come at your religion with a bit more zeal than most people.Tend to be adherents to anyone who is “modern”-that is to say the current state of the Church. Converts tend to be resentful to whoever is Pope.For years it was Pope Francis .Now it’s Pope Leo The 14th. I did wonder how long it would take before the Pope haters started up. Pope Leo the 14th has met with several of his haters. Francis avoided them for the most part.I would assume that Leo has the Swiss Guard very close by when he meets with his haters.Fortunately the people who REALLY hate him have been shouted down but you still see their comments on anything having to do with Pope Leo. But for all of the people who hate him there are plenty saying they love him-and aren’t even Catholic!

There’s a thing-with converts-Latin Mass people- of wanting to keep the Church like it was before Vatican II.
Let me remind you again:Converts have no memory of Vatican II.My dad(a Cradle Catholic) has always said that Vatican II was the best thing that happened to the Church. I was born a few years into Vatican II started so it’s the only Mass I have known(but I also live in an area with a lot of Catholics.) I don’t remember the Popes from when I was very small but bur Pope John Paul II was the Pope for a lot of my growing up years.

I’m far from a perfect Catholic;I disagree with the Church on a lot of things;but you can disagree with the Church and still be a member of the Church;this isn’t like other churches where there is someone monitoring you and you can be disfellowshipped(just a fancier word for excommunicated). There really is no governance there;Whereas with the Catholic Church it’s like “you disagree with the church ? *shrug*(unless you say it publicly like on Facebook or an online forum. Then you get ripped a new asshole.)

Do I think Pope Leo cares about me-one person-who disagrees with the Church?He doesn’t know me but he prays for me.Or anyone who disagrees with the Catholic Church on stuff(abortion and LGBTQ for a couple of things.) He’s hoping I will have a(literal) come to Jesus moment. You have your opinions, Leo, and I have mine.

One quick point before I get into the post:You may notice that the name of the tag has changed:Yes!And I will get into that presently.And there is something else but I will leave that for the end.

It’s been a week since Pope Leo the 14th became Pope and I’ve had time to see what kind of Pope he is going to be.An excellent one as it turns out! He is a Pope of the people and after only a week his approval rating is through the roof! Even non-Catholics LOVE him. The fact that he is an American Pope-and from Chicago-is getting a lot of play!

Now, it’s who is a fan which is surprising: TM.Yes, you read that right.TM has gone over to the liking Pope Leo side.We’ll see how long this lasts but it’s taken people who know what TM can be like by surprise. That doesn’t excuse all of the Pope Francis bashing that he did over the years.Not at freaking all. The best part is that Leo the 14th *hates* MAGAS.I guess for TM that is the lesser of two evils?

Other people who hated Pope Francis are taking up TM’s mantle.They have their Pope hating hats(MAGA hats ,really.) There is much more of it than you would think but as I said at the start of the post:His approval rating is VERY high and he’s been Pope for a hot minute.

The new Pope’s name is what shut the people who believe in the Prophecy Of The Popes.That, as I have mentioned in several posts, has been debunked several times over.He did not take the name Peter(as the last Pope will be named.).

Well, here is the thing: It’s a bit of a no-no for Popes to take that name, out of respect for St. Peter, the first Pope. That’s how you know that that “prophecy” is bullshit.Do you think people who believe in that “prophecy” have ever considered that?Of course not. The people that believe in it do so full stop.

I didn’t know what it was and had to look it up if I’m being honest.through the service it gets progressively darker and at the end there is a loud sound. Which represents Christ’s death and the earthquake afterwards.I asked my dad, who is in his 80’s if he had ever heard of it(he grew up with Latin Mass and was very glad when Vatican II happened)and he hadn’t. HA!

*TM is under this weird thing that places that used to not be Catholic are going back to being so.Says TM.Africa, for instance.A LOT of Africa IS Catholic but there are plenty of countries there that are majority *not* Catholic. IOW it’s you seeing everything through a Catholic lens.

TM has a personal hate on for more than a few people in charge of the Catholic Church.One of them is Cardinal(formerly Bishop) McElroy from San Diego.So you see why I am not too happy about TM targeting the Cardinal(because that is what he is).Side note:When they have the next conclave there is a possibility that he could be the next Pope.I think I’ve said that before, and also that people in San Diego would LOVE it if he became Pope.He might even visit San Diego(Popes visit everywhere else-Denver,and New York and Philly and Washington D.C.) but not San Diego. Then,Pope Francis appointed a woman to Vatican prefect.
Women are never going to be priests.Doesn’t matter which Pope it is, if it’s Francis or if it is a future Pope.I’ve accepted that fact(even being the feminist that I am.)

Strickland is still bish-ing.There was another priest who was kicked out of his parish and they referred to it as being “Stricklanded”.Hey Bish:Get off the cross..we need the wood.

Vigano is on his “Bergolio” shit. Refuses to acknowledge that Francis is Pope. Vigano, Burke,Strickland and one or two others have a huge hate boner for Pope Francis and make no secret of it. The Vatican knows about the haters(they are well aware of TM..because TM is completely unhinged..The others are NOT as constant(they’re still garbage human beings) but TM is bad.He is always looking for things to complain about WRT to Pope Francis.

TM needs to accept that Trad Cats(Traditional Catholics) are a relative minority /TM also needs to(though he can’t) grasp that as someone who converted to the church..he does not speak for every Catholic.As someone who is a Cradle Catholic, it is GALLING to me to see TM gatekeeping Catholicism.I was raised Catholic and only go to Novus Ordo masses.I was born about a decade into Vatican II. So yeah..for someone who wasn’t even born Catholic to tell me how *I* should be a Catholic?Yeahno.

There are a LOT of places in the United States that do NOT celebrate Columbus Day.
