roaming_kate23Apparently the world is supposed to end this week-today I believe. Pretty sure we’ll be here by the weekend.Amazes me how gullible a LOT of people are when it comes to this sort of thing.
2012 comes right to mind(the movie which I just rewatched the other day.)One of the first scenes in the movie was a bunch of people unaliving themselves because of 2012.
In the run up to 2012(12/21/2012)Coast To Coast AM did a LOT of shows about 2012-at LEAST one a week if not more. That fed into peoples’ anxiety about it and the host was claiming he said he never thought the world. Was going to end..Uh yeah, you did. And had plenty of people who believed in it.
(To be fair the host banned someone because she made a lot of predictions and none of them happened.She also told people to unalive their pets before it happened. This isn’t anything new-with the predictions in 2011 there were people unaliving themselves and their whole family. WTF.)
I think of that Ancient Prophecies show from back in the day. They had a family who were building a doomsday bunker in their backyard. They were shown in shadow-because they don’t want people knowing that they are preppers lest they get clowned for it. Mind you this show is 30 years old and prepping was considered fringe back then. It’s practically mainstream now,though.
I get the thinking behind Mormons always having 6 months’ worth of supplies on hand at all times.That’s not just prepping,it’s practical,too.
The history of end of the world predictions is very long and all of them have been failures.
I myself have fallen for it-to be fair at the time I was NOT in the best headspace so I believed it.Obviously the world did NOT end and my life continued as usual.Now,I’m at the point of pointing and laughing anytime someone makes an end of the world prediction.
