This has been discussed on many threads and many posts have been dedicated to it but it is because when they show up people use it as a place to complain about all of the issues that they have on the ship.As of a few years ago it was blamed on Covid but the issues with passengers using the meet and greets as a way to air their grievances. There is a time and a place for that sort of thing and it sure as hell is NOT at a meet and greet. Their reason for using the meet and greet for that sort of thing is because they do not want to wait at the guest services desk to sort it out. These are the same sort of people who have been given a LOT by HAL in the past and HAL, since Covid, has been having to adjust things .This gets all of the people who have been given a LOT by HAL upset because things have changed.
Hostile environment HAL officers face when answering questions.
(It’s not just the meet and greets which are private and set up by groups of people who are on the ship and want to put faces to names. They also have a “ask the Captain” programme where-well, it is self explanatory..I haven’t run into anyone who complained that I can remember..when it is the most common is on the world cruise when passengers(and crew) are on the ship for an extended length of time ands on older ships were a lot more things can go wrong.
Someone commented that it is doubtful that HAL pax complain more than other lines but reading the Cruise Critic boards I change my mind.
(HAL pax need to get out of their mindset about wanting HAL to be the way it was 25 or 30 years ago, when.they were truly formal.HAL used to be a lot more like Cunard but they have modernised (which can ONLY be a good thing!)
Similarly there have been a lot of posts about missing ports and that a”lot” of people were upset by missing ports -those were the ports that they booked the cruise for.If it is THAT important to you then maybe you should see that place as part of a land vacation. I will say this over and over(and so do a lot of other people..but stans are going to be upset even so.)
