roaming_kate23HAL changes discourage regular HAL customers
(Get comfortable because I have a lot to say on this one.)
First off, friends of the family just cruised with HAL.I am going to see them in a few weeks and will ask them what they thought of their cruise because there has been a lot of complaining about cutbacks on HAL ships.
Second, I don’t think it’s that HAL dislikes, or doesn’t care about people who have been cruising with them for years.Even though the diehards would have you believe that that is the case. The newer ships, which are not as big as other cruise lines’ ships are among many things that the diehards do not like about HAL..If I had a dollar for every time I’ve heard people wishing that “The old HAL” would come back.Well, it’s not coming back. HAL has to innovate or else they won’t stay in buisness. HAL will never never be a floating amusement park(and thank god for that!) but there are quite a few people who are just stuck on how HAL “used” to be. That being said,there are plenty of people who LIKE what HAL is doing and actually *prefer* the newer ships.I was on the Koningsdam in 2019 and I loved it.
Third, complaints about the size of portions since cruising started back up .There was a comment about how HAL passengers ‘ eyes are bigger than their stomachs.Ain’t that the truth! Passengers who love to cruise with HAL because they don’t have to do the cooking(Portly Princess come right to mind.)
Attitude is “HAL only” and they accept it.
(When they have a less than great cruise…there is a lot that the diehards are willing to put up with because HAL is so great and they have friends on the ship(crew). *sigh*.)
If you have issues with HAL, address them with HAL
(Basically saying that they should send HAL tons of hate mail. It’s kinda sorta worked before when people were upset about the new rules WRT bringing wine onboard.It got changed a little bit due to a campaign on Mary Louise’s part. But before people were bringing industrial amounts of wine onboard, even if it was only a week long cruise!)
