roaming_kate23There has been a lot more banning of books lately.The subjects of books is disturbing because of the sorts of things they want to ban:
LGBTQ content.
Characters of colour.
Sexual content.
Titles with issues of race/racism/religious minorities(It is amazing to me that they try to ban books that are important for kids to read, like the Diary Of Anne Frank as an example.) Also,books like The Hate That You Give(which, IMO is a book that every kid/tween should read. It is important,especially given the current political/religious climate.)
*sigh* I have to be careful as I have family who live there but the state that has the most book bans?Texas.Related to that is a lot of the people trying to ban books DON’T EVEN HAVE KIDS IN PUBLIC SCHOOL. You would guess that there is a correlation between these things and Christian Nationalists and..you would be right.
