Jul. 24th, 2021 08:42 amWe, as I said the other day have had lots of family in town for my mom’s birthday(which was yesterday). It is an all day thing and by the end of the day when I go to bed, I am out as soon as I put my head on the pillow. Yeah, it’s really that go-go-go!
Yesterday was the best example of that. We were having a family get-together at a local hotel(where my aunt is staying;she has MS so it was easier for her-in a lot of ways. The spanner in the works was my aunt and uncle who took the train out here. There was an issue and it meant that they were delayed.Delayed by quite a bit. And we’re at this hotel which is a pretty good size and the a/c is just NOT getting to where we are so I was going back and forth from where we were to the lobby where the air conditioning was a LOT better! Also the Olympics started last night and, in the end, I only got to see bits and pieces of the opening ceremony but what I saw I liked(saw the very start of it at the hotel, on the bar TV so there wasn’t any sound.)
All told, though, I’m enjoying it, even though I crash into bed at the end of the day. We’ve got 3 young kids(2 7 year olds-twins-and a 15-month old who is adorable but she is a pistol! Sometimes I wish that my nieces and nephews could be that age again if only for a day but then I remember how much of a handful *they* were at that age. I love them to death but it’s that thing of , as an aunt(or uncle) you can just give them back at the end of the day. Most of us don’t do the diaper changing thing(I had to once, when it was a desperate situation but it’s not anything that I wanted to make a habit out of. And all 5 of them are well out the diaper phase at this point; the youngest is 16 and the oldest is 30.Wow.I am old enough to be the aunt of a 30-year-old.
*Coffee is a big help.
