roaming_kate23The Fourth of July was a lot of fun-my brother and the kids came over and ..my niece and her boyfriend and his parents came over so we met them(and it was supposed to not be for very long but they spent a LONG time here and we got to know them so it was all good.
Later on my parents and I went to a neighbour’s house and they made fajitas and everyone brought something(my contribution? Potato salad which went really well with the fajitas as well as several other salads and then a crisp(with several different fruits in it including cherries-I was so about it!)
Of course what is the Fourth Of July without fireworks.There are several places in San Diego that have fireworks displays but we happen to live close to one of the best at the county fairgrounds*.And let me tell you, it did NOT disappoint, and more than made up for the fact that there weren’t any last year.Because of the you-know-what last year a lot of things didn’t happen(as an example:The county fair. It’s happening this year but at less of a level than usual.I have a feeling that it will be back to normal next year(god i hope so).
By the end of the day I was worn out.It was a lot of hanging out and a lot of eating but I had a fun time. I slept like a baby.
*Did I mention that I watched the fireworks from the neighbour’s deck?They had the perfect vantage point to watch them, much better than walking to the usual spot where there are people(and kids in wagons and strollers and dogs) sometimes 2 and 3 deep.Not my scene.So yeah,I appreciated it.
