40 years ago tonight I went to my first concert-Duran Duran.I was 13 years old and it was my first concert. First concerts are a big deal and this was doubly so for me being that it was the band that I was SO into at the time.
The seats were TERRIBLE.Not quite the last row but it was getting there. However, it was Duran Duran, and I was with my people who sure as heck were not at my middle school(and I’ve talked about that a lot..not only was I on the spectrum(which I did not know at the time) and awkward AF AND I was a Duran Duran fan.Afterwards I wore my ticket stub-which I punched a hole in and wore around my neck. My gym teacher was OK with it because her daughter had been a Beatles fan.
From what I learned many years ago both the San Diego and San Francisco area shows were tacked on at the end-and both of those dates had movie shoots for footage that was used in several different things-Sing Blue Silver, the tour movie ,As The Lights Go Down, a concert movie and Arena, which was something else altogether. San Diego had a second show which may or may not have been free where they filmed footage for the above. If I had known, I would have insisted on going to that concert too!I didn’t learn that until many years later after the fact.
