Parents asking about Holland America with their kids and the anti kids crowd were out in force. The parents were looking into a 25 day cruise and there were a fair amount of comments about it being a long cruise.
“There isn’t anything for kids to do.”
(Not true. On most of the ships save for the old ships most have Club HAL. When we went on our family cruise to Alaska we never saw my nephews. They made lots of friends and occasionally we’d see them very briefly. They STILL talk about that cruise, all 5 of them!)
“It will be boring”.
(Depends on the kid, to be quite honest. There are quite a few people on the HAL boards who think that the only thing that kids want is mega ships with water slides and the like. NOT true. Every time, without fail when someone asks about taking kids on a HAL cruise it’s the same damn things. There ARE cruise lines that are adults only. Not very many of them but they DO exist. One of them is, I believe, Viking Oceans and the other is Virgin Atlantic. Both have their pluses and minuses for sure, but you pay a pretty premium .
Then you get all of the stories about roving packs of ill behaved kids on HAL ships. Not saying that it doesn’t happen(I’m sure it does) but the way that some on the HAL boards talk about it it’s a CONSTANT occurance which could not be further from the truth.
