*HAL diehards have so much trouble accepting that the HAL that they knew and loved is not coming back. Like I said last week:It is not easy to run a cruise line in this day and age and we need to cut HAL a WHOLE bunch of slack. But if you’re a diehard who has always had things a certain way get their adult diapers in a bunch because they have to adjust their expectations but that is something that they can’t do.
There was a thread about “could HAL be sold off?” I don’t think things are THAT bad, at least not yet. One of the things that keeps HAL solvent(again, at least not yet) is that they aren’t stuck in the past. The ships that are old and too hard to keep up maintenance on…get sold to other cruise lines. Someone said that the newer ships are better maintained than the older, smaller ones which..that is the truth. They also have a lot more amenities than the older ships as well. HAL will never have the huge ships and, thank god for that.
It’s all about how HAL has to appeal to a certain segment of the population(to hear HAL diehards tell it they don’t want families on their sailings because ..kids running around. I have to say, in all of the times I was on a HAL cruise I never had that issue. I DO think that the diehards like to exaggerate things like that, and if we’re being honest, the people on scooters are worse than a bunch of kids running around the ship. And that is fucking FACTS.
*Seth Wayne, Holland America’s brand ambassador is leaving HAL. He and Orlando Ashford were being dissed on there. “What did Orlando(and by extension,Oprah)do for HAL?” I’ve said this before but I really do think that there was a race element to why people had a problem with the two O’s
What is the target market HAL wants to attract that Seth is not appealing to?
(If you go on the main HAL page it’s a LOT of diehards. Seth’s Facebook page, it’s a LOT more varied. The diehards would like to have you think that they are in the majority with their opinion but that is not the case.)
