Not washing a baby after it’s born.There is also a thing of not putting a hat on a baby after it’s born and also not talking .

Quite frankly, I do not get the whole not washing. Two words: Blow.Out. I’m not a mom but I have heard stories from sister-in-laws and it makes me glad I don’t have kids of my own(I love my nieces and nephews.Don’t get me wrong.)

Several people mentioned meconium(the baby’s first poop which they sometimes do before they’re even born.They also can swallow it which is NOT a good thing.

This is where the not washing/touching the baby comes in.If the baby has swallowed meconium or aspirated otherwise they need to be touched/ stimulated so that they can cry and cough which helps to move things around.

For all the people that are against washing babies after they are born, there are plenty of people saying that things happen,and the baby has to go to the NICU .There was a comment along the lines of “sometimes there’s not time to explain”.EXACTLY. There was a story in the comment from a nurse who said that a mom refused to let her touch her newborn and the kid wound up with a brain injury.

Thankfully there are SO many people who are rejecting the R*K Jr. way of thinking. That helps me be a LOT less WTF at all of it.
