[Another Oscars in the books]
Mar. 14th, 2023 08:53 amFirst of all: The unpopular opinions:
I thought Hugh Grant was well within his right to be snarky with the gal who was interviewing him.The interviewers are always so vapid, some of them moreso than others
Second:The “faux outrage” over Angela Bassett losing had me SMH.Would have been great if she had won but the salty look on her face when Jamie Lee Curtis won was NAGL.
That being said: I didn’t watch the whole thing.I kept checking in, both online and otherwise.
It’s obvious they want us to forget about what happened with W*** S**** but that is emblazoned on the collective Jimmy Kimmel was asking Malala about Chris Pine and Harry Styles and she was like “I’m about peace”. Good response from ya girl!
It was a night of firsts-the first Asian woman to win an Academy Award(Merle Oberon was part Asian but had to hide who she was because of the standards of Hollywood at the time she was nominated for an Oscar.)
Ke Huy Quan also got a Academy Award-for Best Supporting Actor. There was a definite sweep by Everything, Everywhere All At Once.
They may say “oh.Oscars So White”..and yeah, as I said I would have loved to see Angela Bassett win-but there was some serious representation of the Asian community on Sunday night. They were SEEN.
