10 years ago Pope Francis became Pope. I remember being amazed that there was white smoke..I was sort of half paying attention and..all of a sudden white smoke! It was a little after 7 there and a little after 11 in the morning here.
So many firsts:The first Pope from Latin America, the first Jesuit and the first Pope named Francis.Also he has been a reformer(compared to Benedict the 16th who wanted to send the Church back into the dark ages. Then we get Francis who is so open minded it’s not even funny.Granted, he said being gay is not a crime.It’s still a sin though.Small steps.He’s also said(of gay people) “who am I to judge?” Both of those things had my jaw on the floor. Say what you want about the Catholic church but that is a HUGE thing.
