[Big ships vs. small ships]
Jun. 4th, 2021 07:12 pmEvery time I see one of those behemoths,I shudder.
(To each her/his own but you know what? The small ships that HAL has/had do not get the maintenance that they need.)
When I see one pull into a port I want to turn around and get back on the ship.
(In which case you’d be missing out. If that intimidates you, you have some serious issues.)
MSC ship dwarfed the Prinsendam/made it look like a dinghy.
(Because it was one of the smallest ships in the fleet and could get into places that other ships couldn’t .Fine, whatever. They aren’t as well taken care of as other(newer) ships but they still have their fans (Portly Princess being one of them..she seems to be able to afford the best rooms onboard. Not hate, as I’ve said a zillion times, but I do have to wonder why that is.)
A new small ship is a pipe dream.
(Yeah it is. I’m not sure why some are so convinced that HAL is going to build a mega ship but the Koningsdam and the ships that come after it are about as big as they are going to get and that’s fine with me.I loved the K. but didn’t go into it with lowered expectations and I had a really good time! There were a lot of things to like about the K. Not least of which is that things aren’t breaking down every 2 seconds.
The thing that gets me is that there are people who are willing to switch cruise lines and pay more money, etc. so they can go on an ex-HAL ship. Again, to each his/her own but not my thing. We talked to a couple who had gone on one of the former HAL ships that got sold to another cruise line and they didn’t like it, said that the ship was run down, the crew were rude..yeah, that’s not a good look. The ship being run down isn’t a surprise to me since HAL has sold a bunch of their old, moldering ships-sloppy seconds if you will.)
