[Bonus Thanksgiving week RTBTCKI]
Nov. 25th, 2020 10:14 amLately I have been getting songs stuck in my head-Mairzy Dotes, then I Wanna Be Like You from the Jungle Book and Young Americans by David Bowie. That’s a really random selection(cross selection?) of songs.
Finally got the Biden/Harris shirt that I bought off of Amazon and I am going to wear it today! Going to wear it with pride, in fact. Amazingly,I still see quite a few people(even around here where I’m pretty sure that a LOT of people voted for Biden-I know my parents did. Also there have been several rallies with huge caravans of cars with Trump flags. That was before the election(there were also a couple of people In various places selling MAGA swag. Haven’t seen them since a couple of weeks ago. Doesn’t mean that Trump supporters won’t wear their hats,etc. It’s very passive aggressive,no?
On Monday there was a 3 part(all on one night) miniseries of Black Narcissus which was a movie many years ago. I like the format of the miniseries.I think it lends itself so much better-and this is based on a book which is another reason it’s good that they chose the miniseries format-compared to a movie-where they have to try and fit everything in in 2 hours. This was much more of a slow burn.And I loved it. Of course it’s pre-independence India which is one of my areas of interest. And the scenery porn! I loved that, though I think I’m with the nuns(they were Anglican nuns) on this one:It’s so remote..it messes with your head for sure.As does the elevation. I know that when you go someplace at a high elevation, you need to acclimate to it(The Sacred Valley in Peru is a good example of this.They say that you should stay in Cusco which is the closest place to the Sacred Valley for a few days and then you go to Machu Picchu. Not sure that I would go there in as much as it’s close to the top of my bucket list. I have high blood pressure and it’s not recommended but maybe if I just chilled it for a few days I’d be OK.
