[RTBTCKI:After the coffee kicks in]
Monday, 23 November 2020 11:09An update from last week about the checker at the supermarket that we had such an issue with:she was not there this week.I would be not at all surprised to find out that she’s been fired.I don’t want anyone to be fired but...what happened last week was, let’s be honest, a clusterfuck. It really was. If anything else happens I will mention it.
Pure nostalgia for me-watching a video where a guy was walking around Horton Plaza(which is due to be demolished and turned into something else.Which is good.I mean, back in the day Horton Plaza was THE place in San Diego. There have been stores that have come and gone(there was a Planet Hollywood at Horton Plaza for a while-I went there exactly ONCE and it was pretty meh.See also the Sam Goody store.Never got why they had to have such a HUGE Sam Goody store-and at one point there was a cafe there where you could just hang out and listen to music.I don’t think I bought a lot there-it was always way too overpriced for me-of course that was true of a LOT of the stores at Horton Plaza.
Going through the video I was like “That’s where the Body Shop was”, or Johnny Rockets(again ,another really meh experience),the Chinese restaraunt where I got a bad headache after I ate there-IIRC the food was really good but the amount of MSG in the food gave me a mother fuck of a migraine.One of the worst migraines I’ve had in my life. The Johnny Rockets later became a McDonald’s of all things!
One of my favourite places was the 2-story Levis store.I don’t think I went in there all that often but I always loved the aesthetics of it.IIRC there were these ladder-stairs to get to the second level(there was also a way to get in on the second level without having to go up the huge stairs.)
Horton Plaza opened in 1985 and, as I said was the place to go.All of the best stores were at Horton Plaza and some of those places were around for a while and then went out, to be replaced .Ask me when I think Horton Plaza went downhill and I will tell you it was when Sam Goody came in. It was Sam Goody,Dave and Barry’s(a clothing store) and Bath And Body Works(which I love).There may have been one other store there but I can’t remember what it was-lost to time.
