Derech means path, or road in Hebrew (as in:I went off the derech for a while but I’m back on it) The sense it’s usually used in is that you were religious, went *off* the religious wagon, so to speak, and then got back on it again. This is used a lot in Israel. Though it must be said that quite a bit of Israelis are secular; this is commonly heard in Orthodox circles.
