[First concert]
Apr. 16th, 2020 07:40 amToday was the day back in 1984 that I went to my first concert and it’s like it just happened.
I have so many very distinct memories of that day-the fact that I went to hang out with my friend for the day-he(it was my first boyfriend actually).Hung out and went to a movie(Romancing The Stone) but went home early because I knew that I might be going to the concert that night
(Backstory:The last couple of dates on Duran Duran’s tour were tacked on at the end. That included San Diego. I literally found out at the last moment and I was bound and determined to go.
Another memory that I have is that I probably would not have been allowed to go if it hadn’t been spring break. My parents were OK with Duran Duran to a point but going to a concert on a school night?Would not have happened.
Could not hardly eat dinner.
So:Backstory again: Knowing about it when we did and knowing the demand for tickets,we didn’t get the best seats.I wouldn’t say we were in the last row but were pretty close to it. I could have cared less-I was at a Duran Duran concert! And it was amazing!
My brother wanted to avoid the crowds so asked if we could leave before the encore.I think he was expecting me to say something along the lines of “Hell NO!” But I didn’t.Even at the age of 13 I knew a good idea when I heard it.And it’s become a running joke with my brother and I, all of these years later.
(Third backstory:I saw Duran Duran in 2016-with much better tickets this time because the concert had been rescheduled from another day)
