People do not want HAL to go to its old formality

(But first, some context: Several cruise lines are possibly going to be combined and there is a lot of talk that HAL and Princess will be combined, or HAL and Cunard.)

Well, there are several schools of thought about this:

There are quite a few people(not that many really it’s just the same people stating their opinions over and over again making it seem like they are quite the majority when it fact they aren’t) wishing that HAL would go back to the way they used to be 20, 30, 40 years ago when they were TRULY formal. HAL has had to change with the times. They would cease to be relevant if they did. Look, Cunard is truly formal(and even that’s changing slowly but surely) and there are people who like that and great.Cunard is also not cheap so there’s that too. There is a niche of people who like that formality and also can afford to have that experience.

Holland America is also a top shelf experience. But it’s more affordable- it depends on what you book-if you always have to have a suite..yeah, that’s a top shelf experience. Sometimes it’s fun to treat yourself but I certainly see a lot of people bragging about how they *always* book a suite. I believe that is what known as “braggadocio”. I am perfectly happen with an inside cabin-the last cruise I went on was the Koningsdam and whilst some people(Portly Princess, of course..) think the rooms are too small. I thought they were just right. I even thought the inside we had when I was on the Westerdam last was a pretty good size-very generous for an inside room. But like I said, i thought the room on the Koningsdam was more than generous. If I were still cruising I would try one of the newer ships.
