roaming_kate23Several stories on Medical Kidnap..one that I found interesting was a kid that got taken away because they had rickets.
Understand:Rickets is RARE.And a little googling reveals that one of the things that can cause it is exclusive breastfeeding.
(As an aside:
I think(if you can)breastfeeding is what’s best for the baby.But if you can’t breastfeed, you can’t breastfeed. And we all know how upset that the writers on Medical Kidnap are when babies get taken away from them whilst they are feeding. Or it’s a combination of the parents wanting little to nothing to do with doctors and the breastfeeding(to hear them tell it anyways).
Story 2 sounds like Munchausen’s Syndrome to me-the parents making all sorts of excuses why the kid is small for his age(and interestingly, has issues with Vitamin D deficiency..one of the things that can cause-surprise surprise! rickets! Now, this kid doesn’t have rickets but he has scoliosis.
Allegedly the mom wasn’t letting him interact with other kids.I can believe that.Not because he’s homeschooled(I think the “isolation” stereotype of homeschooled kids is a bit off base)but because she wasn’t a very good mom.
