*As HAL’s prices climb higher and higher(and ships get bigger and bigger) we have been looking at other cruise lines
(There are two types of HAL Cruise Critic posters:Those who seem to have enough money to go on multiple cruises every year and the other that cries being broke.Well, not broke exactly but certainly can’t afford to go on the longer cruises.
Portly Princess weighed in(literally) with her opinion about people dressing up on longer cruises.Uh, nobody asked for your opinion,Portly. And is ridiculous coming from someone who has different muu muus for every occasion-that is literally all she can fit in. Like I said I feel sorry for the people who have to pick up her laundry(she has cruised so much that she gets free laundry which, given her size, among other things, is a good thing. She expects everything to be handed to her because she is one of HAL’s best customers.Portly, Nobody cares. She’s a legend in her own mind.)
Not liking cruise lines(Fred Olsen specifically) because they’re not “American based”. Also, there are some people who fixate(I try not to use that word bit it fits here)the nationality of HAL crew. The stewards on HAL ships are primarily from the Philippines and Indonesia and are great-I have never met a steward who is not lovely and ready to get you anything you might need, no matter what time of day it is. And they know everyone’s name! I have no idea how they do that ,and they have to do it with every new sailing. Thinking they have dossiers on everyone who cruises and they know peoples’ likes and dislikes. Not tooting my own horn but I don’t ask a whole lot of the stewards. Cleaning my room once or twice a day, deliver breakfast to my cabin(something that I am relatively new to-the first time I did so I was like “I can’t believe that I haven’t done this before?”(it’s a good deal especially on days when you have an early start to the day-including coffee which, HAL’s coffee is really good.
