roaming_kate23Today was the Hannibal cast reunion on YouTube.I have been looking forwards this ever since I found out that it was happening.First of all, it was good too see(most of) the cast again! Even if we never get a Season 4 this was good. Mads is ready to go!(I think that when and if we get a Season 4 it may be dependent on how
Bryan loves us-and we love him.He said that the fandom has never really gone away-certainly there have been a few people who have left the fandom, but because of Hannibal being on Netflix now, there are a LOT of new fans(which is good!) This was backed up by Loretta Ramos, one of the producers(who was wearing a Eat The Rude shirt-way to represent the fandom!) and Martha DeLaurentis who says us Fannibals appreciated the show’s nuances.This is true.There are many and varied layers to a typical Hannibal episode.
Other things I enjoyed: David Slade brought Abigail/Kacey Rohl’s ear from the show.That was one of yt he highlights for a lot of people. Kacey called Mads “Dad” and the fandom(understandably) lost their shit over it.(in the best kind of way !)Mads is of the opinion that they took the books and made them their own.True. Mads was sitting at a picnic table and drinking a beer which is so Mads!
*There are a LOT of ways to die on Hannibal. Understatement of the decade! Over 3 seasons there were a lot of them!
*Caroline Dhavernas:Alana is a strong woman; but she’s attracted to weirdos *cough*Will Graham*cough* lol and she really understood who her character was when she had a pig baby(you won’t understand that unless you’ve watched the show..)
Bryan is of the opinion that the reveal of her sexuality seemed organic -to which Katie Isabelle replied that they are surrounded by a bunch of men, LOL.
Random observation:Gillian Anderson’s accent is VERY Transatlantic now!(I guess I should not be surprised because she has done a LOT of movies and TV shows in the UK.) Laurence Fishburne wasn’t there because he doesn’t do technology.
Conversation went to some interesting places(This *is* Hannibal we’re talking about so it’s not so surprising.).Scott Thompson is of the opinion that Hannibal is a dark comedy. I don’t disagree with that! Mads confirmed that they did a serious and a funny take of one particular scene. Not surprised about that either-I’ve seen the blooper reels!
Janice Poon,the show’s food stylist was part of the reunion.Love hearing her takes on stuff. Hugh: “There were always chicken feet and dead bugs”(on the table decorations.) Mads: He had snakes and craniums on his table and didn’t get caught(I may be paraphrasing slightly.) Raul Esparza :We did multiple takes of the party scene with just Chilton reacting.(would love to see those!)
Fun fact:They made multiples of all of the food on the show(including the sanguine dolce).Hannibal had the best craft service(I remember a tweet with a picture of Kacey eating fish and chips I think? Hugh and Kacey had hotdogs after they filmed one particularly difficult scene.
I have so much,I am going to do a part 2 of this post-and I will have a few things to say at the end. Suffice it to say that Twitter got blowed up, both before,during and after the reunion(I was worried that we were going to break Youtube this morning because there were so many people on there wanting to watch it but we didn’t and anyone who missed it this morning can watch it on YouTube because it’s on there now.
