roaming_kate23Italy is opening up churches.But with a lot of rules.I get it. Italians are happy because they can go back to church, even if they have to stand 6 feet apart from each other and can’t do the sign of peace.I would be so OK with that.
Here in the States it is a different matter entirely.People in the Red States(and even NOT in the Red States) want to be able to go to church again.Never mind that a lot of churches are doing services online.I’m not sure if people in the Red States and elsewhere are technophobes or they don’t see it as “real” church.Or maybe a little of both.I don’t know.But then you have the people who are defying the ban on going to church..and causing spikes in ‘Rona cases. God forbid(pun totally intended) they not be able to go to church every week. I’ll just say this:Some people’s crazy is showing, and it is NOT a good look.I would love to say this is a small thing but it is not.Like I said, it’s not, strictly speaking, limited to Red States.
I’m OK with having a limited amount of people at a service and apparently that is what the Catholic Churches around here are going to do.I certainly have seen a lot of people complaining that they can’t go to Mass, take the sacraments,etc.Really?Your life could be at risk if you went to Mass a *minute* before they had everything ready and you potentially are risking your life? Is going to church THAT important?
Probably not the best person to speak on this because I am practically a heathen.It’s been over a year since I was in Rome and I went to Mass at Santa Maria Maggiore(just happened to walk in there right as Mass was starting. Gotta love it.)
