roaming_kate23Moonfall is one of those so bad they’re good disaster movies.The moon/ Earth going out of its orbit isn’t anything new(it was the premise for at least one book..there is also a book where the world starts spinning slower and it wreaks all sorts of havoc.)
In the case of the book I mentioned the moon gets knocked out of its orbit by an asteroid.Which okay it probably does happen but probably not to the point that it would have that sort of effect.
HowEVER..Monnfall trades in conspiracy theories. I won’t spoil the movie for you but it’s pretty freaking out there.Not quite “Man never walked on the moon” but it’s sorta close. I’ll just give you one word:Alien.
There are a few differences:When the you know what starts to hit the fan it is more or less without much warning(given that it’s flooding that’s not a good thing;; it’s hardly the start(apparently the moon being out of orbit causes all sorts of natural disasters.That is more than a little reminiscent of other disaster movies(2012 comes right to mind..but that movie has the whole 2012 prophecy behind it. )I mean, is there any truth to the movie?Nope. It’s pretty much agreed on that it’s about the farthest thing from scientifically correct as you can get, and is consistently on the list of the most inaccurate disaster movies. The Day After Tomorrow, too. Like, we can go from everything is normal to a new ice age in only a few days?I call so much bullshit. See also: Volcano. A volcano underneath Los Angeles that nobody knew about?Really?
See also also also:The Discovery Channel shows Super Volcano(what would happen if the volcano in Yellowstone erupted) and Super Comet:After the impact .I will say this about the comet one:They show life going on after the impact.I recently read a book that took place many years after the end of the world(a couple of hundred years maybe?)and it was as if it had never happened(and one of the characters was a descendant of the survivors.) It was the last book in a series and I felt like I could read another whole book about the descendants and their families and have flashbacks to get some back story in there.
