[Trip report]
Jun. 30th, 2025 09:20 pmI alluded to the fact that my niece got married;it was a LOT of late nights, but I *did* get to spend time with family so that was good.
And we ate.And ate. The rehearsal dinner was at Cattlemen’s Steak House(well the even t centre right next door to it which was the perfect size for the amount of people who were there. There was steak, catfish, salad, and baked potatoes-oh and several different types of desserts.
The day of the wedding I went to a really cool indie bookstore then walked across the street to the mall, walked around for a while, then Ubered home(it was HOT.) I didn’t eat there but the family went to a policewoman called the Chicken Shack.Fun hanging out with family even if I didn’t eat anything!
The wedding was lovely-at a Methodist church (Jesus loves the Methodists too.) One of the readings was a Navajo prayer-I have been to a LOT of weddings but that was a first for me-but I liked it!
Now,the reception was at my brother’s house and it was outside.Did I mention that it was hot?It was.Luckily you could go inside to cool off if you needed to(and I did, for sure. The food was FIRE..barbecue-ribs-Texas toast and fried okra-as well as wedding cake and two types of cobbler.
Sunday there was a brunch at a country club. LOTS of good food-and more time with family and friends who were there for the wedding.
Today we went to my brother and sister-in-law’s house for lunch-sandwiches and-yes-more peach cobbler.I got cobbler that was a little caramelised-HEAVEN! And my brother and I went to pick up their dog up from the kennel. He was SO excited to see my brother -and me too-and also everyone got to meet him. I have been talking about how wonderful their dog Biscuit-a American Cocker Spaniel-is and everyone WAS charmed. As well they should be.
