[I overthink.This much is true!]
Mar. 2nd, 2025 08:46 amWas watching Leave The World Behind and I was struck by several things:
1)The son gets bit by a tick and immediately starts having weird symptoms.That’s not how tick bites work(and ultimately the cause is revealed ti be something else;related to why the world has gone to shit.)
2)We get a reveal that it’s some sort of cyberattack..GPS doesn’t work, and neither does the internet and the TB(though briefly the TV -and the radio-come on and we get hints of what is happening.There is a emergency alert on the TV-which stays on for some time.I was thinking it was an EMP(electro magnetic pulse) which might explain the GPS not working but not anything else(cars wouldn’t work for one thing.) The power outage happens, eventually, but not until quite a ways into the movie.
Back in the day we had the constant threat of nuclear war hanging over our heads.I don’t think we realised it-with hindsight-until we were grown.Three words:The Day After.People my age and a little bit older and a little bit younger were *scarred* by that movie.
