Dec. 28th, 2024 08:27 amI would never support Salvation Army(they are anti-a lot of things so I won’t give money when I see a red bucket during the holidays. There are better ways to give back to the community and those who are less fortunate.I have been doing Meals On Wheels for the better part of 20 years.
Salvation Army has something called the Angel Tree where families who are in need get signed up to get Christmas gifts-things they need.The people who buy the gifts pick a tag off of a tree and buy the gifts. There are practical things on the lists(like clothes, especially clothes that are a few sizes too big so the kids can wear them for several seasons.Which,practical.) There was a woman who was THRILLED that she got kids’ clothes that were a few sizes too big.
The problems come when:
Influencers do the Angel Tree..for clout.
Most of the gifts come from Dollar Tree.Several commenters have said beggars can’t be choosers and fair enough.
The gift recipients-and their parents-are ungrateful. There was a kid who got a off brand TV and BROKE IT.
WTAF.
A woman who said that the Angel Tree “did her dirty”. She de-activated her Tik-Tok account.Of course she did.
Something else to consider:The people who do the Angel Tree might not be well off themselves. And they buy what they can afford.There is NO shame in buying what you can afford.
