These posts go back MANY years and serve to illustrate just how strongly people feel about the dress codes on the HAL boards.

Let’s jump right in, shall we?

Dress code=stay in formal clothes all night.
(This hasn’t been the case for many years. But there are some who are extreme sticklers for the rules.)

Not as strict as this board makes it out to be
(IOW people had/have their opinions and will state them without much prompting.)

Times are changing but some prefer to hide their heads in the sand.
(And I have heard more than one person say that they like playing at Downton Abbey and Titanic.Yeah..)

Reverend Douchebag made a comment about being made fun of because he actually(to this day) dresses up to the old expectations.
(He also shamed people that he thought were not dressed appropriately for formal night and got fucking ROASTED for it.)

Formal nights are fun.
(Reverend Douchebag WOULD see it like that.)

Rev:My night isn’t ruined by someone not dressing according to the code.
(I CALL BULLSHIT.)

There was a reply that then people like Rev. think that playing dress up is fun and everyone wants to have the same “fun”.
(The problem being that the Rev. was in peoples’ faces with his opinion.)

Tunnel visioned posters refer to the “majority of us” and “sticking out like a sore thumb”.
(To those people I say:get off of the cross. We need the wood.)

The Rev. replied that they are told to find a cruise line that enforces the dress code.
(The people that tell Rev and others that are NOT wrong.)

I would never choose a cruise line based on the ability to dress for dinner.
(Do it to the level you want to. But tuxes and gowns are NOT mandatory.)

Rev. replied “speak for yourself”.
(Unless you failed to grasp what a, well, douchebag he is.)

No one group of people is going to enforce a dress code all evening.
(Lord knows Rev. has tried..)

These stuffy folk are a vocal minority
(The people that call them stuffy are, again, not wrong.)

Rev. replied that he and others that want to uphold the dress codes get called stuffy but they aren’t stuffy. They are just upholding a tradition.
(Sure Jan.And since the time that that post was written, HAL is nowhere NEAR as formal as they used to be but some, like the Rev. like to act like they are playing at “the good old days” of HAL.
