[Fassy is hot with two t’s]
Monday, 22 August 2022 11:38Recorded Macbeth off of HBO.I hadn’t seen it before, and apparently it’s not available on Amazon Prime(and when it was you had to pay for it I believe.) So seeing that it was on HBO I took advantage of that fact. And I was not disappointed. Mind you, this is the only(movie) version of Macbeth that I’ve seen.I’ve also seen the Romeo And Juliet from 1996.
However, I’ve seen Macbeth at the Old Globe in San Diego Once it was in the actual setting(old Scotland) and the other it was set in World War I which didn’t work for the first half of the play but got much better in. the second half. The Old Globe always does interesting productions of Shakespeare’s plays(one of the best ones was The Taming Of The Shrew, set in the Wild West and Twelfth Night set in the future(I’ve seen Twelfth Night twice actually..when I think about it there are quite a few plays I have seem more than once.)
Michael Fassbender OWNS the role of Macbeth. Kind of a shame that it was a flop and didn’t make a lot of money but it is well worth the 2 plus hours that you’ll spend watching. Faithful to the source material too.
(Fun fact:My dog Macduff was named after..yes..the character Macduff in the play.So whenever I’ve seen that play or a reference to it, I picture my dog, who was a Basset Hound.)
