[Stranger Things HITS.]
Jul. 10th, 2022 09:55 amI haven’t started watching Season 2 of Stranger Things yet(long story) but man..as someone who grew up in the 80’s..I remember all of it.
In one episode they found a stash of Hunt’s Snack Pack puddings.Oh man!I LOVED those ! Had to be careful when you opened ‘em because you could cut the crap out of your fingers if you weren’t careful(see also: pop tabs. The switch over from pop tabs to what they have now was welcome ,though I will say that what they have now are harder to open, especially if you have short(or even long) nails.I always use a pen to open those.
VHS vs. Beta(and video stores before the advent of Blockbuster..We had a mom and pop video store in the town I grew up in and it got bought out by Blockbuster.Blockbuster was definitely the Walmart/Starbucks of its day. And ultimately Blockbuster’s..Blockbuster-ness is what was their downfall. Late fees EVERY time when we would rent videos there ,to the point that I started calling them “Ball Buster”.
LOL I still remember the first video I watched on MTV(Madness-One Step Beyond). Make no mistake, what we had was BASIC cable. Kids these days don’t know the struggle. Occasionally they would have free HBO or Cinemax(and somehow we wound up with Cinemax for several months before we got cut off. This was the heyday of Cinemax and HBO(and Cinemax had the nickname SkineMax(with good reason, too!)
