[Weekend report, December 24-26 2021]
Monday, 27 December 2021 09:08Friday:We went over to a friend of my mom’s house in the evening, with a charcuterie board(the best salami I have ever had-and I’m usually neither here nor there when it comes to salami but this was good! Dinner was beef bourgion with all of the trimmings(LOVED the sweet potatoes!) and individual baked alaska for dessert(SO good!).
Saturday:Was Christmas of course. Had the traditional opening of the gifts and just sitting around until midday when we went to Ruth Chris for Christmas dinner. My parents both had the prix fixe dinner and I didn’t-I had shrimp cocktail to start, and a (HUGE) New York Strip steak(took a lot of it home) and a baked potato which I shared with my dad.Oh, and a blueberry mojito which was DELICIOUS! One of the people sitting near us ordered a Tomahawk steak.I’d never seen one “in the wild” if you will. They are HUGE, the sort of thing that you can split between several people(it’s *that* big!) and add in a couple of sides(which are generously sized) and you have a really good meal.
Of course there was also the traditional Call The Midwife Christmas special(wouldn’t be Christmas without it!) and it brought all of the feels.
Sunday:My nephew caught an earlier flight so he could get home in plenty of time(he’s the manager of a pizza place and he had to work yesterday) so we picked him up from the airport and went to Denny’s for breakfast, dropped him off at home and then I headed over to Encinitas to spend some of my Christmas money(I still have some of it left if you can believe that!).
Dinner was a steak quesadilla with the leftover steak from Christmas dinner.. 💯.
