Dec. 23rd, 2020 08:33 amDo you have a favourite ship?
Oh, this thread went directions that I was not expecting.
Stuck with floating hotels.
(I would not consider the newer HAL ships floating hotels.I do not think that HAL is going to do that as much as they are trying to modernise and not stay stuck in the past the way that the old guard wants them to. Too bad for them because as I have said so many times before if HAL wants to stay relevant they have to modernise maybe not to the point of some of the “floating hotels” but to each their own. The other issue is ‘Rona. That has not been good for the cruise industry(putting it mildly..) )
Captain X was invisible...only appeared when he had to.
(As has been pointed out ship’s crew including captains no longer go to Cruise Critic meet and greets because it turns into a bunch of people bitching at the crew about all of the things that have gone wrong on their crews and they’re less than a few days into the cruise!)
I didn’t get warm fuzzies..his attitude was “go away, you bother me”.
(And this bothers you because????? There are a few people who need to have validation from the crew and specifically captains and that includes the captain acknowledging them and saying hello every time that they see them. Really?Do the people that do this not get that being the captain of a ship especially a cruise ship is an important job and they are not always going to have the time to stop and chat with everyone.)
“Other” experienced Mariners.
(Ah yes “Other” passengers were upset .Yeah right. I have seen this when a ship misses a port, that “a lot” of people were upset that they missed a port. Thing is, if the captain doesn’t think that they can get into the harbor that’s his call, and also a safety thing too.If you get “upset” about that, you have issues and at the very least your priorities are very messed up. Have the ships I was on had to miss ports?Yes.Was I disappointed?Yes! But I got over it. There are some ports(like Cozumel) which are tricky to port in.The day we were supposed to be there it was made worse by the fact that bad weather-rain, lightning ,high wind - was forecast. So we didn’t go to Cozumel. See also: Half Moon Cay.)
