*It’s been a while since someone on the HAL boards said that HAL is not a good line for families.This is one of the sticking points(along with dress codes for one thing) that are sticking points for the old guard.
BTW there is a suggestion about HAL merging with Cunard- and I’ll get to that in a minute.
Whilst HAL welcomes children, it is far from a family-centric line
(I’ve said this a TON before..if they didn’t want kids on the ships they would not have Club HAL-the hangout for kids-on their ships.)
Nor should they try to be

*If worse comes to worse there is a suggestion that HAL and Cunard merge.
God I hope that doesn’t happen.The dress code threads alone would be epic.
HAL used to be quite formal, but that has eased over the years.If they and Cunard were to merge..You know the people that have been on Cunard(there are a few) would insist on formal nights being truly formal.Unlike HAL where a nice top and a skirt will do you just fine.Very few people take it to the tux and evening gown level anymore. They do on Cunard.If you have been on both Cunard *and* HAL you have standards.Most people don’t and they have a couple of outfits that they can wear for Gala/Formal nights. I think my feelings about Gala nights seem like I *don’t* like it and don’t want to dress up.
I do.I don’t mind dressing up.Not at all.HowEVER, when other people try to push their standards about Gala/formal nights on others and insist that you are NOT dressed appropriately because you are not wearing a tux and gown. This has been going on for a long time.Back when the “Old HAL” existed and before they modernised(much to the chagrin of the old guard) HAL was truly formal, along the lines of Cunard(as I said before if they were to merge HAL would become truly formal on Formal/Gala nights.Which some people would love.
To be fair,I don’t have a dog in this fight because I’m probably never going to cruise again.Because of what’s going on in the world of course.And I’m OK with that.
