Jul. 13th, 2020 09:41 amHAL has a new CEO and, of course as soon as this was announced the usual people you would think were all over it to shit on him.
You thought Orlando Ashford was offensive to HAL Cruise Critic boards’ posters sensibilities?Well the new guy whose name is Gus Antorcha is coming in for it even more so.Somewhere,Orlando Ashford is laughing his ass off. Pretty sure he knows that people think they caused him to quit(not even close to the truth..but some of the elite would like to think so.They did nothing but shit on Orlando as soon as he became the CEO.Then when he started making all sorts of changes to HAL and the partnership with Oprah..well, it was ON.
Look,I know that not everyone likes Oprah, and on the cruises where she was on you did NOT have to participate(from what people on the boards-who hadn’t even been on a cruise where Oprah was onboard-made it seem like all of the activities were MANDATORY and if you didn’t participate that you would be dragged out of your stateroom and made to.Shaking my head at the level of hyperbole.Add to that the old guard think that since there is a new CEO that things are going to go back to the way they were.Not bloody likely!
First of all, any sort of new ships, changes to ships, are on hold right now because of everything that is going on right now.
Secondly, there is some worry that because he worked for Carnival(and HAL, along with a bunch of other cruise lines)is under the Carnival umbrella(rella rella rella)that is is going to turn all of the HAL ships into something like Carnival’s fun ships.Yeah right.Holland America may not have all of the bells and whistles that other cruise lines’ ships do, but I’m OK with it.And it’s the reason I stay with HAL-absolutely NOTHING to do with snobbishness. I’ve never understood the way the old guard can just sit there and shit talk cruise lines’ ships because they’re not “refined” the way HAL’s ships are.That makes me roll my eyes.
