[This was REAL]
Saturday, 20 June 2020 10:08Not sure how I fell down this particular rabbit hole but I started watching The Day After and remembered exactly why I was scarred for life. At the time it aired I was 12.And the threat of nuclear war was a threat. My parents lived through the Cuban Missile Crisis which had to have been scary and it was their version of what we went through.
The Day After’s effects-for 1983- were impressive. If they did it now they would use tons of CGI of course. That would be the height of laziness. But what they had to work with..pretty good.It scared the shit out off a lot of people ,myself included,I guarantee you mention it to a group of people my age and a little older and younger and they have memories of it.
Forget about the likelihood of asteroids ,etc. Those ain’t dick and at least if one of those hit the earth our death would be instantaneous. With a nuclear bomb you may or may not be close to where the bomb dropped and get exposed to fall out Being exposed to radiation and dying a horrible death from it is not the way I want to go out.
