[Pretty quiet right now..BUT..]
Thursday, 4 June 2020 08:00*Apparently two of the HAL ships-the two oldest ones-the Veendam and the Maasdam-are up for sale. Cue faux outrage from the old guard at the Cruise Critic HAL boards.If those ships are up for sale, there goes the “classic” HAL with it. Thankfully they sold the oldest ships-but they were another cruise lines’ problem to deal with.I actually talked to someone who had cruised on one of the HAL ships after it had been sold to another line and..it was not good.As I like to say:Sloppy seconds.
*HAL ought to bring back the pre-Orlando logo
(I have seen so much of this lately.Like now that he is gone everything is going to be reversed.No. They can keep on wishing that the “Old” HAL is going to come back.No.It’s not. That Orlando Ashford thread was dead for several days before someone posted on it again.There are some people that want everyone to know how much they disliked Orlando Ashford and all of the changes that he made(for the better if you ask me). Orlando Ashford’s leaving is proof that they were able to make him run away, crying, from running Holland America. They freaking WISH that that was the case but it’s not.
These are people whose mindset is fully in the 19th(yes you read that right) century and cruising as being like something out of Titanic of Downton Abbey. Yeah right.They can just keep on dreaming like they do.)
*Really?People are SO desperate to cruise there are multiple threads on the subject. It’s like “Do you even realise how bad the situation is right now?You’re booking cruises which you’re not even sure that you’re going to be able to go on! I’ve pretty much decided that I’m going to stick to doing land trips, not cruises..if cruise lines can get their act together and convince me that I am not going to get ‘Rona and it’s not going to be a clusterfuck otherwise, then great.Otherwise,I’m gonna take a major pass,thanks. And that’s coming from someone who loves to cruise, loves the idea of everything being right there for you, having your bed made every day...what’s not to like?
Not hate, but I don’t get peoples’ need to go on a world cruise.And there are people who have been on multiple world cruises.That is a lot of commitment, both for the amount of time that you’re going to be on the cruise and the amount of money that you’re going to spend on it and also you have to plan to be away from home for at least 6 months .There are a lot of countries on that cruise and I would be concerned about going on a cruise first of all and secondly potentially countries that are still possibly having issues with ‘Rona. I’ve got some good news though, and I’ll talk about that in a post in a day or two!
