4 and 5 Star Mariners hated Orlando Ashford ..they hated that he was modernising Holland.
(They would prefer that Holland America stay a Cunard clone so they can have their Titanic/Downton Abbey fantasies.)

Why is it that the most commonly cited reason to fire Ashford is the library?
(Because they took away something that is(allegedly)so beloved of HAL.The truth is that there are reasons(books getting stolen for one thing) that the libraries were done away with.)

HAL is old and stodgy
(I would say this applies to the older ships.)

There needs to be a nod to tradition while moving forward.

The complaints from loyal HAL cruisers who are loyal to HAL do not keep them from booking HAL cruises despite the complaining

It’s unlikely that HAL pays much attention to a dozen or so incessant posters
(They think that their constant whinging is taken into account.)

There is a sizable and vocal contingent on HAL and are looking for any excuse to criticise him(Orlando Ashford)

Basically repeating comments but,IMO you can’t underestimate how obnoxious they can be.I will say that Portly and a few others were majorly on a few threads but have stopped as of late(did they get a smack for all of their brown beating(and that is the only word for it.They don’t like that but it’s perfect.)

Some constantly hearken back to the standards of 20 years ago.
(If they want to do that, fine.But complaining about Orlando Ashford all the time gets really old.And people notice it.And can be intimidating to people who are new to the HAL boards.)
