Portly is on her one track mind thing again(some would say that she has never gotten off of it-I am one of them)
-She back on her “bring back the old HAL” trip.She thinks that if she(and a few other people) complain loud enough they will do so.No amount of telling her that no, the “old” HAL is not coming back and doing things then old way wasn’t working “will make her shut up.
If anything, that just makes her start in even more.She goes on and on about the “quiet, refined atmosphere “ that used to be on HAL ships.Operative words being “used to”. I only started cruising with HAL in 2008 so not NEARLY as long as sone of the old guard so I don’t remember all the things that they are pining away for but I’ve seen pictures and..I definitely think that going more modern is the way to go.Also,I am a lot younger than the old guard, for the most part.As I’ve said before there are younger people who are into the whole “old school HAL” thing.That being said, there are people like Des, who is the most trustworthy person on the HAL boards says “why do you want to keep HAL the way it *used* to be?”
Though it’s not said(and I haven’t seen anyone go on a “kids don’t belong on HAL ships” rant for a while(just watch..now I’ve said that there will be) factors into it. If HAL didn’t want kids on their ships they would not have Club HAL.Some of the old guard are also of the mind that children should be seen and not heard(see also:If you’re not going to dress up for formal/gala night you HAVE to stay in your cabin, ALL. NIGHT because they don’t want to have to look at people who aren’t dressed up-it offends their sensibility.Yeah,OK.And I can give plenty of examples of this but you know what?I’m not going to.Y’all have seen me mention several people multiple times who are notable because they have to tell everyone, every chance they get, their feelings about formal/gala night.Mind you, some of those people have moved on(died?)or don’t post on Cruise Critic that much anymore(which I think people are glad for..I know one of the people I have mentioned has their fans but when they said something that was indefensible, quite a few people did not want to know.
