Thursday, 12 March 2020 09:26NOW we have a travel ban, AND two cruise lines have suspended buisness for the time being.Just gonna tell you right now.I am determined not to make this the “Corona Diaries” so there may not be Cruise Critic posts every week if all they’re talking about is Corona Virus.It’s just too much.
Several ships have been turned away from Caribbean ports.How long before Holland America follows suit? This is going to be a shit show of the highest order.They had posts telling people not to post new Corona Viruses but guess what?There were MULTIPLE threads on Corona, including What if?Ports Are Closed. TL:DR? Cruise, but if you’re doing so, at your own discretion.I get it, you’re potentially losing money, but the cruise lines are being more than fair when it comes to being compensated.
Yes,Holland America are doing their best, and yet, are still sending out brochures for cruises?Hunh?That makes no sense.
I could sit here and talk about playing the blame game-but that doesn’t do any good.There is a couple that are on a cruise right now and they have been quarantined.A formerly very popular cruising blogger has been on a couple of cruises lately. This person’s hygiene is not the best(they NEVER use the hand washing stations right as you walk into the lido on some ships and also has long-ass nails. Betting that we hear they have self-quarantined one of these times.
TL:DR 2? You couldn’t pay me any amount of money to get on a cruise ship right now and probably not for awhile if EVER. This is coming from someone who loves to cruise but does not relish the idea of being on a floating Petri dish right now. There are TONS of people on YouTube who are doing videos about the pros and cons of cancelling your cruise(quite a few people cancelling but there are also a few that HAVE gone on their cruises and a couple of them actually have got Corona.
The worst part?The places that usually have lots of people there are empty/closed because of Corona. I watched a couple of webcams in Venice and it’s empty. I really want to go to Italy when this is all over. Travel (out of and to this country anyways) is going to be nonexistent for a while.
