[Oprah, again]
Friday, 17 January 2020 21:51Is HAL over Oprah?Well, not really. There are a fair amount of people that would prefer that HAL had nothing to do with Oprah.
Posters mentioned her being the reason for HAL issues
(The issues have nothing to do with Oprah.Or Orlando Ashford.)
Many conservative cruisers don’t care for Oprah’s political influence
(Because they’re Trump voters,most of ‘em)
We’ve been pleased that there seems to be less and less of Oprah
(To each his or her own)
People who are proud to hate Oprah ,keep your hate to yourselves
(Oprah has been dragged into discussions that had nothing to do with her.Same with Orlando Ashford. There is some not-very-veiled-at-all racism on the Cruise Critic HAL boards.And the moderators just look the other way at it.People are afraid to report posts that are so obviously racist.
TBH there is a stigma connected with reporting posts on the Cruise Critic boards.The people who I would consider problem posters have been know to complain because their posts were reported and then deleted.)
There were some really nasty comments when the(Oprah) connection was first announced.
(This is very true. See my earlier comment about veiled(or not) racism.)
Some of the comments back then were over the top
(Like so many things-formal nights especially- there is a small but vocal group of people who were posting their opinions about Oprah over and over again making it seem like it’s a majority opinion. Oh yeah:And you would NEVER catch anyone talking like that on a HAL ship(see also: the fashion police).If they did shit would hit the fan.And HAL doesn’t want that sort of bad press(yes there IS such a thing as bad press.))
