[Rotterdam? More like ROTTENdam]
Nov. 8th, 2019 10:19 pmRotterdam is having issues.She’s an old ship so really not so surprising.Also not surprising?The way that people come to her defense.
Like they can really do anything about missed ports, etc.
As I have said many times:I am hesitant to sail on the older ships and reports like this pretty much confirm it for me.
That being said:My brother and his family went on one of the older ships and had a great time.
As up to date as some of the other ships?No, but they had a fun time.Truly,it’s what you make of it.
Just like all of the people who get such lowered expectations of Koningsdam because of what they’ve read on Cruise Critic that they go into it deciding that they are not going to like anything.
(I’ve been on the Koningsdam. Have also been on several other HAL ships.The amount of whinging every time they modernise a ship when it’s in dry dock..it’s come to be expected.With several of the ships that have been sold..they basically were putting lipstick on a pig, polishing a turd..because they didn’t want to hear all of the complaints when they did from the diehards.But eventually they realised that there is only so much they can do and they sell the ships to another cruise line(they get Holland America’s sloppy seconds for lack of a better way to put it. There are some cruisers that are ship groupies that are so attached to certain ships(even calling them “their” ships..don’t even get me started) that they will go on a cruise line that is not their tried and true HAL.
