[Storytime: It saved my life]
Sep. 16th, 2019 08:26 pmI loved going to UTC(local mall) because there was a store there that I loved.
Mind you, they got just as much money from me back in the day as Lou’s records did but they wanted a lot more for certain things than the store at UTC-International Gifts- did.I was able to make my money go a lot further than it would otherwise.
International Gifts had a little bit of everything-and one of the things they had a lot of was band memorabilia.I bought a few of my pins and whatnot there.
You’re probably wondering, “well, how did that save your life?” Well, I became friendly with one of the girls who worked there.She was a Duran Duran fan(as was I.) Thing was,I didn’t really have anyone to compare notes with and got endless amounts of shit from people for being a Duran Duran fan. So she was the person I looked up to-she was a few years older than me-she had a job.A sort of fandom mentor, if you will.
Eventually I quit going to International Gifts and I wasn’t the Duran Duran fan I had been.International Gifs is long gone, having gone through several iterations-it’s now a Red Robin restaraunt of all things!
