Portly Princess had several cruises booked for fall of 2020.FALL???? And she is not the only one-there are people who think that they are going to be cruising this fall.Fall, to say nothing of winter and early spring. That’s NOT that far away!
Not soon enough for a lot of us
(Define “a lot”)
HAL restarting is going to be difficult by dint of the fact that a lot of their clientele are..how should I put this..OLD. Not being ageist but in a lot of ways it is true.In the time that I cruised* with HAL I have seen a LOT more families .As I have said before if they didn’t want kids on their ships they would not have kids’ clubs on them.
Speaking of niches...there are questions about the world cruise and if crews from other ships(who normally WOULD be on the world cruise are on other cruises(and have been stuck on cruises because of ‘Rona) could be moved to the world cruise. (And insistence that everyone who feels the same way that they do flood HAL with letters and emails. This is the usual tact when posters on the HAL boards are OUTRAGED about something. It’s faux outrage though.
Nah, that’s not entitlement. Not at freaking all. Even when others point out that it so obviously is.
Unsurprisingly there were stories about how cliquish the world cruises can be. People who were new to the world cruise being ignored and the crew on the board ignoring them and talking to world cruisers who were veterans and who they knew well. To their credit, the people who were being ignored mentioned it to the right people and that behaviour stopped(thankfully).
*You notice I am speaking in the past tense.I have decided as of late that I will not be going on any more cruises. If they get their shit together and can guarantee that I will have a ‘Rona-free experience then maybe I’d consider it.But right now, it’s not happening and any travel is going to be a land trip.
