[This has to do with TM, albeit tangentially but I thought it was relevant]
Our local newspaper printed a story about the divide between the haves(younger priests who want to modernise) and the have not(younger priests who are more in the TM mode and are encouraging women to veil,facing AWAY from the congregation(modern style is to face the congregation.) And this was a change from one week to the next.Without any sort of warning that it was going to be that way. He would probably say that he doesn’t have to do squat. Sorry, yes he does.
(There have been a few parishes where they suddenly went to Latin Masses, and it was a huge turnoff .Not only that it was in a part of the States where there are not a lot of Catholics(North Carolina)..this is the opposite of the problem that Latin Mass-goers have where they complain about having to drive out of their way to go to a Latin Mass. Maybe this isn’t an issue in larger cities but this was,IIRC a smaller town.)
The priest pushing certain things has turned off some parishioners(that is not surprising to me in the least.It’s what I have been writing about, re:TM for a while now. )There are some younger Catholics who like the “old” ways.I will never understand that, and to each her/his own. However, it is not the be all and end all.
Pope Francis has made his feelings about Latin Mass people well known, saying that it is creating a divide(absolutely it freaking is) and is being exploited. YES. And guess who is at the forefront of this? TM. Oh yes. I mean, who else is making videos about all the things that Pope Francis does that he doesn’t like pretty much every day?TM. I don’t see him giving up anytime soon, either.
Pretty sure Rome(i.e. Pope Francis) knows all about TM..given that he can’t shut up about his favourite target.. If he hasn’t been banned from Vatican City,and Rome proper, then he should be.One of his stans was talking about storming Vatican City. Fortunately(surprisingly?) there aren’t that many stans that are batshit crazy to that extent.But occasionally there are.
Things you will never see TM doing:Talking about something that Pope Francis did *right*.This is sadly true.
