[Child of the ‘80’s things]
Last night’s South Park had me ROLLING. As someone who grew up during the Cold War, I sat there nodding my head. War Games, one of the Rocky movies,Red Dawn..they even had a scene with Two Tribes by Frankie Goes To Hollywood. Clearly Trey Parker and Matt Stone drew upon that.
If you’re a youngster you won’t remember what it was like to constantly worry about the Russians sending nukes. The Day After sure didn’t help any.There is a whole generation of kids that were scarred for life by it. The Day After didn’t pull any punches(they had warnings before it aired and yet…)
There was a UK version of The Day After called Threads which was just as grim as the Day After-there were quite a few movies about nuclear war back in the day.This is because it was a very real reality.
